What it does
Transfer tools send. Cloud drives store. Breeze does the thing in between: it makes the devices you own behave like they belong to the same person.
Nearby devices show up on a radar. Tap one, pick anything — photos, a 4 GB video, a folder, whatever you just copied — and it lands with a preview you can open.
A Vault is a folder that is simply there on your phone, your laptop and your tablet — synced across your own Wi‑Fi, never uploaded anywhere. A Dropbox with no Dropbox in it.
A one‑line command pipes anything to any device. An MCP server lets Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code hand files to your phone — with you approving every call.
Plays well with others
Breeze speaks the open LocalSend protocol and receives from Google Quick Share, so it fits in next to the apps people around you already use.
Same protocol on the wire. A Breeze device and a LocalSend device find each other and trade files with nothing configured.
Someone with an Android sends to your iPhone or Mac and needs nothing installed. Breeze receives it. (Receiving only.)

Name them, pin them, trust them. Trusted devices skip the accept prompt, so your own laptop just receives.
Connection
Every app in this category has one failure mode: silence. A spinner that says “waiting.” Breeze has six ways onto a network and a diagnostics screen that names the one in the way.
Devices find each other in seconds. Nothing to set up.
Works even when the internet behind it is gone. Android can create the network itself — no router, no data plan.
An extender in router mode splits a home in two. Breeze finds its way across.
Office, campus, hotel. Scan a QR code or type an address and the device lands on the radar anyway.
It stays on the radar, dimmed. Knock over Bluetooth and it wakes up.
Show a QR code that invites them. Or, on Android, they send from Quick Share with nothing installed.
Two plane seats, one hotspot. Abroad with no data plan. Breeze needs a network, not the internet.
Settings has a diagnostics screen that checks all of the above and says what it found.
Fair questions
All reasonable. Here are the straight answers, including where the other thing wins.
Same protocol, so they work together — install either and the same network grows. But LocalSend is a transfer tool. Breeze is transfer plus Vaults, plus an Inbox with viewers, plus a CLI and an MCP server, plus a real native app on each platform.
Everything the LocalSend protocol provides is free in Breeze. Pro is only the part LocalSend doesn’t have.
True, and good. On Pixel 9 and newer, recent Galaxys and a few others, with the iPhone set to “Everyone for 10 Minutes” — a setting iOS turns back off after ten minutes. There’s still no path from a Windows PC to an iPhone.
Breeze works on any Android 8+, any Windows 10+ PC, with no mode to flip. And even on Apple‑only setups, testers have stopped reaching for AirDrop: an Inbox that keeps things, trusted devices, drop zones — it’s simply a nicer way to move a file.
Blip sends across the internet, and to do that it needs an account and, when a direct connection isn’t possible, relays your files through its servers. Breeze needs no account, and on your network files go straight from one device to the other with nothing in between. The trade: Breeze reaches the devices around you, not the other side of the world.
Dropbox stores. Breeze moves. A cloud drive sends your file to a server and back to reach the laptop beside you, and stalls when the connection drops. Vaults sync across your own Wi‑Fi with nothing uploaded — and they are not a backup.
The protocol is open — it’s LocalSend’s, published. The implementation is our own, and it isn’t. If you want to check what leaves your machine: put Wireshark on it. There is no outgoing traffic unless you switch on analytics, which is off by default and never carries file names or any personal data.
Breeze is a side project by one person who has worked in the industry since 2006 and has built Simply Fluent, a cross‑platform language app, with determination since 2018. It exists because he moves files between a Mac, an iPhone and an Android all day and wanted that to stop being work — and it’s the tool he uses to do it. There’s a written threat model and tests that attack it.
Boundaries
The goal is a tool versatile enough to fit almost anyone’s workflow without ever feeling technical — so the people who don’t care how it works get as much out of it as the people who do. Three things it deliberately isn’t:
Trust
They go from this device to that one, encrypted the way online banking is. On your network there is no Breeze server in the path — we couldn’t see them if we tried.
Direct over the LAN. TLS 1.3, both sides present a certificate, both verified. Nothing of ours between the two devices.
A device is its certificate. Unknown devices always ask. The fingerprint shows on both screens so you can compare.
Identity = certificate fingerprint, pinned on first use. Trust and block lists keyed to the fingerprint. Session bound to the cert — no mid‑transfer hijack.
No account, no email, no password. Pro is a store receipt, not a login.
No accounts, no directory. Pro receipt stored under a random device‑generated ID. Analytics opt‑in, off by default, zero events when off; crash reports carry no file names.
Every transfer is accepted by you first. Files can’t write outside their folder, and a device can’t flood you.
Filenames validated — no path traversal, no symlink redirection. Oversize transfers cut off and deleted. Per‑device caps. Written threat model with tests against it.

Pro never gates sending, receiving, file size, or how many devices you use. Everything the LocalSend protocol provides stays free. The paywall only appears when you tap something marked Pro.
